SOS morning routine

The alarm goes off and you’re late before you even start.

Mornings for parents with small kids are almost always a nightmare, and we almost always find ourselves racing against the clock.

Getting to work on time is almost impossible. Hearing the alarm clock go off in the mornings is pure torture. Tantrums and feeling constantly tired is what you have to look forward to.

So take a deep breath and count to 10: there’s always a solution to anything!

Being on time when you have small kids, is one of the hardest things to do. From the time the alarm goes off to the time they leave the house, parents and families everywhere do the same things day in day out. Often though its a lack of organization that makes every morning hectic, making seemingly simple things complicated and difficult to manage.

Don’t panic! We are going to give you some simple straightforward advice to help you with early morning tantrums, leaving you enough time for a cup of coffee before you start your day:

  1. Put your alarm clock forward: we are always meaning to do it, but then we forget! It’s not what we would want to do, but it’s the one sure way of getting time for yourself so that you have enough time for a cup of coffee and get organized before the kids get up.
  2. Organize things the night before: backpacks, snacks, packed lunches, clothes and shoes. How long does it take you everyday to get all that organized? Doing it the night before will give you more time in the morning to do other things.
  3. Encourage your kids to do things on their own: tell them simply and clearly what you want them to do, obviously depending on their age! Teaching them to dress on their own, wash and brush their teeth means having less to do in the mornings. It takes a great deal of patience, but in the end you get more time for yourself and they get to feel “big”!

There are lots of things you can do to simplify your routine ... but don’t try to do everything on your own!

Even if you are Supermom, remember that getting out of the house on time in the morning takes teamwork, and you’re the captain!
