“Mummy I'm bored!” How to have fun indoors even on a cold or rainy day

Dear Parents, are your kids disappointed you can’t go to the park because it’s cold or raining? Don't panic, there are plenty of ways to nip boredom in the bud even indoors! If you are short on ideas, here are some things to do when your kids say "I'm Bored": all you need to do is look around your home at the materials you already have, then add a little imagination.

FOR CREATIVE KIDS

If your children are budding artists, they will love drawing with you: all you need is paper, pencils and markers. Choose a theme and start drawing!

What should you do if you don’t have pencils or crayons? Find some pretty paper to make an easy origami of child's favourite animals; then watch their faces light up with pleasure when you complete your work.

On rainy days, a parent’s most precious ally are building blocks! All kids love them and simply lose track of time as they play; the day will pass in the blink of an eye.

Making salt dough is a really fun and easy activity for kids and the chances are you will have all of the ingredients in the cupboard ready to go on a rainy day. Have fun shaping your salt dough into original creations!

FOR KIDS WHO JUST CAN’T SIT STILL

For kids who just can’t sit still, we suggest a game like Statues!

Or if you want to do something different and original, why not try bowing in your hallway with soda bottles or toilet paper tubes. That's right, you can also use plastic bottles or empty milk cartons for skittles, and then strike them down with a tennis ball!

FOR DAYDREAMERS

If your child is a little daydreamer and has lots of imagination, make up exciting characters and adventures for an unforgettable afternoon together.

Read your children a story, creating the right atmosphere and giving different voices to the characters. Or, you can even put on a play, with costumes you make yourself!

You could always build a hut with chairs, blankets and pillows! Who has never built hut before!!? Make yourselves comfortable in the hut and tell your kids stories, the magical atmosphere of the hut will do the rest.

FOR KIDS WITH A SWEET TOOTH

What better day to bake biscuits together? Your kids will love decorating them. Now that the biscuits are ready, why not invite your friends over for tea? They will taste even better when you share them with friends.

How do you spend those cold and rainy days with your children? We would love to know about the things you do!
