The Easter bunny treasure hunt

The Easter bunny treasure hunt

Do you really know the story about the Easter Bunny and the coloured eggs? It's a story that children love about families of the past.

Here it is:

“Many years ago in a small English village, mothers didn't have enough money to buy Easter gifts for all their children, so they decided to paint boiled eggs in gay colours and patterns and hid them in the woods near the village. When the kids went to play in the woods on Easter Sunday they saw the eggs, but suddenly a rabbit popped out, making the children believe that it was the bunny who had brought them these beautiful “gifts” that they started gathering.

Have you ever thought of recreating this story for your children? If you or friends have a garden, a treasure hunt is lots of fun for children.

It's very easy to organise: boil the number of eggs you want and paint them with cooking water or, if you are artistic, with a paintbrush and watercolours.

Then, without letting your children see you, on Easter morning hide the eggs in the garden and as soon as everyone is ready to celebrate Easter Sunday, surprise your children with the story about the rabbit and tell them to find the eggs that you (or the bunny) have hidden.

A treasure hunt is lots of fun for children and adults alike; try it and see!
